SINOSSI

 Liberamente ispirato alla figura di Leopold von Sacher Masoch il film racconta il suo percorso verso quella che comunemente potrebbe essere scambiata per follia.

Girato completamente in uno spazio nero, un pavimento a scacchi, pochissimi oggetti di scena bianchi, il lungometraggio narra le relazioni del protagonista (LUI) con quattro donne: una SIGNORA, una  PROSTITUTA, una DOMESTICA e la signora “Xenobia”. 

Haidée – alter ego del protagonista e insieme motore degli avvenimenti – accompagnerà il suo ospite fino a svelare la verità ultima di ciascuna delle protagoniste. 

Il sonno di Haidée rivelerà verità e menzogne, ricordi, proiezioni, paure e sofferenze dei personaggi, in un contesto emozionale più che narrativo.

SYNOPSIS

Leopold lives in quasi-religious awe of his Mistress, his goddess, his Venus. He desires her, he covets her beyond himself. But his Lady has nothing but extreme cruelty and coldness to offer him. Enraptured by the beatings and humiliations he gets from her crew of prostitutes and satyr-like figures, the horror and the violence he undergoes bring him to an always higher level of appreciation of his love, at the same time trapping him into an inescapable dimension of degradation. Unfortunately for him, the mutually-agreed deal that normally exists within a sado-masochistic relationship is here reduced to an actual, formal, unilaterally-stipulated contract, that eventually reveals the emptiness and uselessness of the ordeal he has to go through in order to attain the happiness of his Lady’s embrace. He comes to experience what real humiliation is, in the form of moral rather than physical debasement, entering the territories of insanity when he realizes that cruelty is just a mask to hide the deepest instincts of fear and awe, and the weaknesses that make up the essence of humanity.
